Starlink

Starlink represents a leap forward in Iberia's onboard connectivity. Starlink is the world's most advanced satellite constellation, developed by SpaceX. It consists of thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit, about 550 km above Earth, to provide fast, reliable, low-latency internet on board. This allows you to enjoy streaming, video calls, online gaming, and much more, even at high altitudes. The first aircraft equipped with this technology took off on the Madrid–São Paulo route, registered as EC-MAA aircraft, marking the first milestone in the service rollout, which will be implemented progressively over the next two years.
The new connectivity allows us to offer free, high-speed WiFi in all cabins throughout the entire journey, from boarding to arrival. The experience is designed to support everyday activities such as browsing, working remotely, streaming content, making video calls, or using multiple devices (mobile, tablet, desktop) simultaneously.
Beyond incorporating new technology, this project opens a new chapter in the onboard digital experience: faster, more stable, and more natural connectivity that brings the flight experience closer to how our customers already connect on the ground. The launch is part of the 2030 Flight Plan and reinforces Iberia's commitment to innovation, digitalization, and the continuous improvement of the customer experience.
Objectives
01
Bringing onboard connectivity up to a new standard. Offering a free, fast, and stable WiFi experience throughout the flight, capable of meeting customers’ typical digital needs: working, communicating, browsing, enjoying entertainment, or sharing their journey in real time.
02
Reducing friction when accessing the service. Designing a simple connection experience from the customer’s own device, via the “Iberia WiFi” network and the Starlink captive portal, making onboard internet access clear, fast, and natural.
03
Activating a new digital layer during the journey. Turning connectivity into a foundation upon which to build new digital experiences during the flight, connecting information, services, and customer relationships at a stage of the journey that previously offered more limited possibilities.
